David Bentley Trio plus Rachel Dunham and Arron Bool!
David Bentley Trio
Pianist/songwriter David Bentley joins forces with the formidable talents of double bassist Andrew Shaw and drummer Paul Hudson to create a spicy bouillabaisse of jazz and blues. David Bentley is well-known for his musicianship and songwriting skills. Initially influenced by singer-songwriter Mose Allison, as well as jazz pianists such as Bobby Timmons, Bill Evans and Red Garland, he later discovered New Orleans R&B - distilling these influences, and others, into an intensely personal style. According to Noel Mengel of the Courier Mail, David's most recent CD release Last Man Standing fits in style with the likes of Georgie Fame and the later Van Morrison, easily moving between jazz, soul and blues, with healthy doses of New Orleans. David is a legend of the Brisbane music scene and we are thrilled to feature him at the Jazz Hangar.
